It has been more than eight months since the COVID-19 outbreak shut the US economy down. Since then, there have been widespread efforts to combat the virus and reopen the economy. However, as the colder weather has made outdoor and socially distanced activities less appealing to consumers, we’ve seen a record uptick in the amount of cases in the US.

In 1997, Charles Kleiber was appointed State Secretary for Education and Research of the Swiss Confederation. He remained at this post until his retirement in 2007. During his tenure as State Secretary, the presence of Science and Technology Offices in Swiss embassies abroad increased dramatically, and he oversaw the creation of SHARE, the Swiss House for Advanced Research and Education — which would later become known as swissnex.

On June 2nd, in collaboration with Inspire, swissnex Boston hosted a workshop on the topic of patient advocacy, with a keynote by MassBio President and CEO Robert Coughlin, as well as closing remarks by Andrew Frates, a patient advocate and driving force behind the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Participants also had a chance to move to breakout sessions with experts on various topics within the field of patient advocacy.

You might have asked yourself lately, “Are we in a recession? What is happening with oil? What industries are being hurt most by the current crisis?” While we don’t know the answers to a lot of these questions, we found a few people who did.

In our April 23rd event, “US Market Outlook during COVID and Beyond,” we teamed up with experts at BlackRock and the Progressive Investors Network to examine market fundamentals and the macroeconomics of the new financial policies put into place in the United States to address the current economic challenges.
